Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. This will be your base preparation.

Step 2

Arrange the saltine crackers in a single, tight layer across the prepared baking sheet, covering the entire surface.

Step 3

In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat. Bring to a rolling boil and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly to create the toffee.

Step 4

Immediately pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers. Use a spatula to spread it gently. Bake for 5 minutes until the toffee is bubbling.

Step 5

Remove from the oven and sprinkle the milk chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate into a smooth layer.

Step 6

Top with the roasted sliced almonds and a final sprinkle of flaky sea salt. Let cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before breaking into pieces.

Recipe Tips

Flavor Variation

Use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate for a richer, less sweet taste that provides a wonderful contrast to the sweet toffee.

Elegant Presentation

For a beautiful presentation, allow the chocolate layer to set, then drizzle melted white chocolate over the top before breaking the crack into pieces.

Pairing Suggestion

This treat pairs wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee or as part of a dessert course, especially alongside items made in a Ninja Air Fryer.
